THE family of a Scotland fan who died while following the team in Boston says they can 'hardly take it in' as they thank donators for raising over £60k to bring him home.
Thomas "Tam" Murty collapsed outside the Dubliner pub on June 18 before tragically passing away the next morning.
The family set up a GoFundMe to raise money that could help bring the grandfather home and give him the send off he deserves.
Tam's family has now revealed that over 2500 people have donated to the fundraiser and at the time of writing, over £65,500 has been raised.
Our sister paper the Glasgow Times previously reported that the Dubliner donated £1000.
The family went on to say that the money will help give Tam a great send off, and anything left over will go towards supporting his family in the coming weeks.
Providing an update on the fundraiser, they wrote: "Thank you doesn't feel big enough.
"Four days ago, we asked for help. Since then, almost 2500 people have donated and together you've raised almost £60,000. We can hardly take it in.
"Here's where things are right now. Tomorrow is the first step towards bringing Tam home – into the care of the funeral directors, where he'll be looked after and prepared with the dignity he deserves. Over the coming days we'll be working through every arrangement, step by step.
"Because of your kindness, we can give Tam the send-off he truly deserves, and be there for his family through a time none of us were ready for. We'll share the details of the service here as soon as they're confirmed.
"Anything raised beyond the repatriation, and funeral itself will go to supporting Tam's family in the weeks ahead.
"To everyone who gave, shared, or simply sent a kind word – thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. You've carried us through a week none of us will ever forget. We see every single one of you.
"Tartan Army, Thank you again, truly. We'll keep you posted every step of the way."
