The family of a pensioner who was beaten in his own home have released photos of his horrific injuries.
Drug addict Samantha McDonnell, 37, broke into the 87-year-old's supported accommodation in Bartley Green, Birmingham in March, demanding money.
She started beating him until he fell on the floor and even unplugged his phone so he couldn't hall for help.
The victim was taken to the hospital with a bleed on the brain and a broken nose.
He has since been released from the hospital and has moved to a new home because he no longer felt safe in his flat.
With permission from his family, West Midlands Police released an image to show how bad the injuries inflicted by McDonnell were.
During the investigation, police found McDonnell stole from three people at the property including two pensioners and a support worker.
The stolen property was found in her flat, as well as the clothing she was wearing at the time of the offences.
She was also filmed by one of the support workers nearby after the thefts took place.
Three different people then picked McDonnell out on an ID parade.
McDonnell admitted trying to use the stolen bank card after the evidence against her was so great she chose to plead guilty.
She was jailed for seven and a half years in prison for theft, robbery and burglary at Birmingham Crown Court last week.
She will have to serve at least two-thirds of it before she can be considered for release.
West Midlands Police said in a statement: "While McDonnell is a drug addict and her addiction likely drove her to commit the crimes she did, addiction can be no excuse for violence against a vulnerable, elderly person.
"Our thoughts remain with the man she attacked as he continues to recover from the horrible ordeal that was inflicted on him."
