Family of missing Scots man 'crying out' for information as police launch appeal

The distressed family of a man missing from Ayrshire have urged Scots to look out for him after he was last seen in a shop several days ago.

Corry Ferguson, from Saltcoats, was reported missing by family on Thursday March 3.

The 26-year-old was last seen at around 9.35am on Tuesday March 1 in a Spar shop on the town's Wheatley Road, captured on store security footage.

At the time he was wearing a black parka jacket, green hoodie, grey jogger bottoms, white trainers and a black baseball cap.

Corry is described as 6ft tall, slim built, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Corry's family have set up a Facebook page to gather information (Instagram)

A page set up by his family on Facebook, Corry Ferguson Missing Person, says the disappearance is "totally out of character".

They say the items he bought in the Spar where he was captured on CCTV remain at home in his fridge - leading them to believe he went missing shortly afterwards.

"Corry has never been a missing person before, he is a home bird and likes his home comforts," the family wrote.

"This is totally out of character and is causing major concerns and distress for all those who love and care about him.

"We are asking for everyone to please share Corry's pictures over all your social media platforms to keep his face fresh in people’s minds, if you have any information on Corrys whereabouts please contact one of the family or the police if you would prefer to do so.

"We are a family crying out for help to get this much loved boy home safe where he belongs and any help we can get is greatly appreciated."

Police have launched an official missing persons probe in a bid to trace Corry.

Sgt Fisher of Saltcoats Police Office said: “Corry is generally quite a quiet, introverted person, however his family have not been able to contact him for a number of days and are becoming concerned for his wellbeing.

"We would like to trace him as soon as possible to ensure that he is safe and well.”

“We would also appeal to Corry himself to get in touch should he see this appeal.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Saltcoats Police Office on 101 quoting incident 1113 of March 3 2022.
