The family of an innocent man who died after sustaining fatal injuries when a car ploughed into him five years ago has suffered further tragedy.
Danny Lynch – the dad of Stephen who was deliberately mowed down by a car in Dublin in 2017 – is to be laid to rest this week.
He died suddenly at St James’s Hospital in the city last Tuesday surrounded by his loved ones.
Shamrock Rovers fan Danny has been described as “everybody’s friend” and “a warm, kind, gentle soul”. Stephen, 31, was hit by a car in the Brookview Close estate in Tallaght on April 13, 2017.
Gardai believe the father-of-three, who was not involved in criminality, was murdered because he asked the occupants of a Ford Focus to slow down as kids were playing nearby. The suspected driver was with another man in the car and they are yet to face any charges.
Stephen’s mum Vera wrote on Facebook that she hopes Danny will take care of Stephen in heaven and that she will “forever fight for justice” for her firstborn son.
