Family in terrifying ordeal as they wake to find intruder in bedroom in early morning raid

A Strathblane family woke to find an intruder in a bedroom of the their home in the middle of the night.

During the raid, a high value watch, worth £4,000, was swiped along with three sets of car keys.

The watch was a high-end Tudor Pelagos timepiece.

A woman, who lives at the address, in Dumbrock Road, woke to find a man standing in her bedroom.

She called for her partner and the suspect fled the scene with the haul of goods.

The woman, her partner and two adult children were home at the time of the break in.

The incident occurred shortly after 4am on Wednesday, April 27.

Police are now hunting the cuplrit and say enquiries into the theft are on going.

The woman later took to social media to detail or terrifying ordeal. She posted: ‘(I’m) sitting in my kitchen with police as I was woken this morning just after 4am by someone in my bedroom.

“A few things missing but they were disturbed… at least two people – one dressed all in black with a grey balaclava on.

“I heard no cars leaving, so they may have left on foot.

“If anyone knows of anything/saw anything/has CCTV I would really appreciate any help given.”

She later added: "Thank you everyone, we live in an amazing area, your support has been fantastic.

"We are angry that folk can be so brazen to not only come into your house but upstairs where people are sleeping! The main thing is we are all ok, no one was hurt and the things they took can be replaced/sorted or fixed."

It’s unclear how long the intruder had been in the property before the alarm was raised and it’s understood that police found no signs of forced entry to the premises.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Observer: “Officers received report of a break-in at a property on Dumbrock Road, Strathblane, at around 4.20am on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
