As Hurricane Milton approaches the state of Florida, Sarah Lutzker and her family are among the many residents making preparations to weather the storm. Originally planning to evacuate to Georgia, the family was forced to turn back due to a lack of gas, and are now hunkering down in their St. Petersburg home.
Currently at home with her 15-month-old daughter and two cats, Lutzker has stocked up on supplies but is bracing for the possibility of losing power at any moment. Having recently relocated from Long Island, New York, Lutzker expressed surprise at the intensity of the weather in Florida.
“We expected storms and sunshine, but I don’t think we expected two hurricanes in less than 10 days,” Lutzker shared.
With Hurricane Milton looming, residents across the region are taking precautions to ensure their safety and well-being. Lutzker's experience serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of weather patterns and the importance of being prepared for emergencies.
