Family guide to new movie releases

'DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS'

Rated PG for action, mild violence, language and rude humor.

What it’s about: What if Superman had a dog? And that dog had to save Superman from a Lex Luthor-loyal guinea pig with a motley crew of rescue animals?

The kid attractor factor: The animation, humor and animal characters

Good lessons/bad lessons: Things are often better with a pack.

Violence: Some comic book/cartoon violence, explosions, fighting, peril, etc. It's an animated superhero movie

Language: Some toilet humor, a beeped swear.

Sex: Superman and Lois kiss.

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: Family-friendly and fun but likely too scary for very small children.

'VENGEANCE'

Rated R for language and brief violence.

What it’s about: A New York City journalist heads to small town Texas to investigate a murder for his podcast in this smart social satire.

The kid attractor factor: Not much, this is more of an adult drama.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Don't judge a book by it's cover, or a death by its circumstances.

Violence: A shooting, plus a fight/fisticuffs.

Language: Swearing throughout.

Sex: References to sex.

Drugs: References to a drug overdose and using pills.

Parents’ advisory: Too mature for kids but OK for teens
