Family behind one of Swansea's best-loved restaurants is opening city's first chai tea cafe

On the menu alongside a variety of chai tea flavours, including the very popular traditional Karak Chai, is Indian street food, desserts, and all-day breakfast.

Chai Stop can be found on 29 Mansel Street, in Swansea city centre, and the shop is open from 12pm to 11pm every day and opening later on a Friday, and opening hours may be extended in the future.

Speaking about what it meant to bring this unique business to Swansea, Salman said: “Every opportunity we’ve had in life has been from Swansea itself and its an honour for us and a pleasure really to be able to give something back to our community and to be part of the community.”

Salman and his family will be mixing their Welsh heritage with their Asian heritage as all of the products and ingredients used are locally sourced and helping the community bounce back after the pandemic.

Salman said: "We are trying to keep the money in the community which is big for us, that is our main thing… it's about helping our community grow especially now, after this pandemic, we want everybody to come and enjoy themselves.”

They are hoping that Chai Stop will help bring something different to Swansea and attract more people to the city, Salman said:

“To be bringing something unique to Swansea is amazing for us, these are things that our city doesn’t have. We want people to come to Swansea from out of town and love it as much as we do and not have to go anywhere else to get these little things that they want.”

Chai Stop is open on 29 Mansel Street from 12pm to 11pm, every day with a later opening time on a Friday.
