The first season of Fallout took a risk by being an adaptation that wasn’t adapting anything in particular. While the story of Lucy McLean and the Ghoul was set in the Fallout universe, it didn’t replicate the plot of any specific game. However, the final shot of Season 1 suggested this wasn’t a long-term strategy; the action is moving to New Vegas, the setting of Fallout: New Vegas.
Now, the first episode of Season 2 has made it clear that New Vegas is just the start. There were multiple references to another Fallout game throughout the episode, and the show could already be setting up Season 3.
