Fallout 3 was "not what we intended" after tech constraints in 2008, says Bethesda vet Nate Purkeypile, so it's time for a "better" remaster

Former Bethesda artist and Fallout 76 lead Nate Purkeypile is just as glad as you are that Bethesda has a Fallout 3 remaster on the way. Purkeypile worked on the original RPG back in 2008, so he's acutely aware that it could have been better.

Purkeypile tells The Examined Game host Steven Lake in a new YouTube interview, "I'm personally looking forward to [the Fallout 3 remaster], because we were, like, super tech-constrained making Fallout 3." The dev says, "you could only place so many lights," plus textures were small, and devs were "constantly worrying about the memory budgets, or how much stuff you're putting on-screen... So it's not like it's exactly how we intended."
