RAJKOT: The repercussions over the murder of a man in Dhandhuka town of Ahmedabad were spreading across Gujarat with mob violence reported in Rajkot and protests registered in tribal-dominated areas of Chhota Udepur also.
An unruly mob of around 3,000 resorted to violence and vandalized a police control room (PCR) van following which cops resorted to lathicharge to disperse the crowd.
On Sunday, police gave permission for a gathering of a limited number of people and a peaceful march up to the collector office to submit a memorandum over the issue. But police guidelines were grossly violated as nearly 3,000 gathered at the collector office, demanding strict action against the killers of Kishan Bharwad who was shot dead by two bike-borne men over a controversial social media post on a minority community.
