Falkirk's crematorium will be extended to create a new office that will make it easier for families to speak to bereavement staff.
Plans submitted to Falkirk Council show the new office and family meeting room will be fully accessible, including new toilet facilities and a new entranceway.
The work will also involve creating extra space to store the historic records in the crematorium's care, with new strong storage that will keep documents secure from damage, especially fire.
Falkirk Council's roads and grounds manager Dorothy Reid said: "This will mean that if people want to speak to someone who is in charge they can do that without having to leave the crematorium building.
"Everything will be in one place, so our staff will be more accessible to the bereaved."
The work to the Camelon facility is expected to take place in this financial year, after reconditioning work on the cremators is complete.
