Falkirk cops re-issue warning over Covid test text scam

Police in Falkirk are urging locals to be aware following a Covid-19 text scam circulating in the area.

The message is leading people to a fake NHS website and asking them to enter their personal and bank details for a small 'postage charge'.

Officers say they have received numerous reports over the past few weeks.

NHS Scotland does not currently charge for coronavirus tests or for them to be posted out to an address.

The text message reads: "NHS: You have been in contact with someone with the Omicron Variant.

"Apply for a Test Kit today" - which then has a link to the dodgy website.

Taking to Twitter, Falkirk Police said: "We are continuing to get reports of scam texts related to Covid tests which leads to a cloned NHS website asking you to enter personal details and pay a small 'postage charge'.

"NHS Scotland does not currently charge for Covid tests and will NEVER ask for payment."
