The Falcons came unbelievably close to pulling off a comeback that was reminiscent of their Super Bowl 51 loss. Trailing 28-3 to the Rams in the second half Sunday, Atlanta came roaring back and nearly won the game.
Buy Falcons TicketsThe team returned a blocked punt for a touchdown and forced a fumble that gave the offense a chance to take the lead in the final minute. Then, as any true Falcons fan would expect, Marcus Mariota threw a crushing interception in the end zone to seal a victory for the Rams.
Here’s how Falcons fans responded after the game on Twitter.
Great guy. Not a starting QB.

They played well for one quarter (that they didn’t finish) and you’re gonna say they played well against the Rams? No. They didn’t. That’s not how this works

JUST THROW THE DAMN BALL.

Jeez Not Even A Chance

After all of that… you take a sack on a Hail Mary 🤦♂️

Falcons Fans: Hey Arthur, can you create some plays for Kyle Pitts?

LOL. Mariota lost that one. He choked.

Desmond Ridder should be the Falcons starter from now on. #DirtyBirds

Is it Ridder time?
— 🇬🇧 Atlanta Falcons 🔴⚫ (@ATLFalconsUK) September 18, 2022
As gutsy as Mariota has played, I would be shocked if Ridder doesn't play at some point in October. We need to see what this offense looks like in full force.
— Allen Strk (@allenstrk) September 18, 2022
Correct. Inexcusable mistake by Mariota. https://t.co/K5qDLsrkOk

Get rid of Mariota idc. Also good effort I guess
— Shane (@dunk99who) September 18, 2022
Mariota is so bad. There’s really no reason to keep him as the starter at 0-2. 2 crucial drives back to back weeks where we could of won and we came away with NOTHING!

The Falcons nearly overcame a 28-3 Rams lead but fell short in the fourth quarter. https://t.co/2jYHCvYVgO
