At the start of free agency, the Atlanta Falcons aggressively pursued quarterback Kirk Cousins, signing the former Vikings signal-caller to a four-year, $180 million contract.
While Cousins’ presence makes it less likely for the team to take a quarterback early in the draft, the front office is still doing its due diligence. Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. impressed scouts at his Pro Day on Thursday and reportedly has a pre-draft meeting visit scheduled with the Falcons, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson.
News story from the University of Washington’s pro day, where Michael Penix Jr. may have checked off an important box with a strong 40 time. He said he has visits lined up with the Falcons, Raiders, Giants, Steelers and Broncos. https://t.co/9JGqZ1FhWo

Penix Jr. is considered a borderline first-round prospect by most scouts, but some believe he solidified that first-round status after his Pro Day performance. The young QB impressed with both his arm and legs, running the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds.
In his final year at Washington, Penix Jr. passed for 4,906 yards, 36 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Watch clips from his Pro Day, as shared by the NFL’s Twitter account below.
