Falcons swoop in as another team interested in Texans QB Deshaun Watson

As Tom Brady returns to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it appears the balance of the NFC South is interested in upgrading their quarterback position.

According to Adam Schefter from ESPN, the Atlanta Falcons have emerged as as team interested in Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. The Falcons’ divisional foes in the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints are already in talks with Watson about possibly continuing his NFL career in their respective cities.

Watson is from the Atlanta area and was a ball boy for the Falcons while attending Gainesville High School.

“Thursdays, I would get to watch my little brother play in middle school, Fridays I would have my game, Saturday I would go up to Clemson and watch the Clemson game and then Sundays come back home go to Atlanta and be on the sideline with the Falcons,” Watson told reporters on Oct. 2, 2019. “It was a neat experience. I kind of got all, if you want to call it four phases, starting from middle school, high school college, college to the professional on Sundays.

“It was a neat experience, it was an awesome experience, it was very eye-opening and a great time, a great opportunity for myself, especially with everything that was going on off the field with my mom and her situation and just finding ways to kind of stay in tune, get the negative things out of my head and keep me focused and locked in.”

If the Falcons were to make a trade for Watson, it would call into question whether Matt Ryan would be a part of the trade package. Texans general manager Nick Caserio is looking for three first-round picks as a baseline along with players and more draft picks.
