Falcons get prime-time bump for Week 17 game vs. Commanders

After defeating the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night, the Atlanta Falcons have been awarded another prime-time game by the NFL. The team’s Week 17 matchup against the Washington Commanders has been flexed into NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” timeslot.

The NFL downgraded the Miami Dolphins-Cleveland Browns game to open up the spot for Atlanta and Washington. Both teams are in second place in their respective divisions and fighting for a playoff berth in the NFC.

The Commanders, led by former Falcons head coach Dan Quinn, are one of the NFL’s biggest surprise teams this season. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has been electric and Washington currently holds a wild-card spot.

The game will air on Sunday, December 29 at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” The Falcons are 3-1 in prime-time games this season and will look to improve to 4-1 against Quinn’s Commanders.

In Week 16, Atlanta will host the New York Giants at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
