Vitality’s attempt at tying Astralis’ Major record has been thwarted at the very first step, with the Finn “karrigan” Andersen-led Falcons taking them down in the IEM Cologne Major 2026 quarter finals. Anubis – kyousuke magic gives Falcons the edge – 13-11
A kyousuke quad-kill started off the series in style for the Falcons, immediately bringing the superteam heat to the Cathedral. And his team immediately built on it, running up a tally of five rounds in a row before Vitality could respond. When rifles came back out for Vitality, the team chose to exploit Karrigan’s position on B in consecutive rounds, slowly cutting down their round deficit, eventually tying the half 6-6.

Lethal headshots from ZywOo’s USP-S gave Vitality a lead four round headstart in the second half. Round seventeen finally saw Falcons pull a T-side round across the line, as Karrigan called his team into a B-take. That kicked off Falcons’ roll of attack rounds, as the team traded their way through the map’s pathways and picked up six rounds straight for match point. It took an incredible flank from FlameZ to extend play, but a kyousuke highlight shut the map down 13-11.

Inferno – Vitality answer back – 11-13
kyousuke was once again the spearhead for Falcons, as the superteam took another small lead from the pistol round. Unlike Anubis though, Vitality were quickly back at it, taking the lead with successful gun round attacks. While Vitality remained in control for much of the half, kyousuke continued to be a thorn in their side, winning opening duels and clutches to keep his team afloat. The youngster’s impact eventually broke down the Vitality economy, and gave Falcons another 6-6 half.

Chaos ensued when teams switched sides, with both teams throwing hail mary plays on the B site to trade early rounds. Vitality’s success in the first CT gun round once again put them in the lead, but despite weaker weaponry, Karrigan’s calls were clearly working. The IGL helped Falcons get the bomb planted regularly, keeping the pressure up.

A ropz MP9 was all Vitality brought into round 21, and the Estonian put himself on a pivot, spinning between opponents on A and locking in Vitality’s 11th. Finally, ZywOo’s AWP put on the finishing touches, and sent the series to a third map with a 13-11 win.
Dust2 – Heartbreak for Vitality – 13-11
Falcons edged a tight half against Vitality, trading pistol and force-buy wins before a round-eight B-take pushed them to an 8-4 lead. Vitality fired back with a clever long fake to open the second half, but Falcons stayed in control as Karrigan’s lone USP-S ran through a mid-smoke in round 15 to swing momentum further their way, stretching the lead to 11-6.

apEX tried to drag Vitality back into it as ZywOo struggled to find his shots, cracking sites and forcing Falcons saves. TeSeS nearly turned the tide with a clutch Five-Seven duel against flameZ, landing two kills on 2 HP before falling to a molotov. But Falcons converted the round anyway, and m0NESY closed it out in a 1v1 to reach match point. Vitality stole one more round through ZywOo and ropz’s brilliance, but Falcons sealed it in round 24 to avoid overtime and book their semifinal spot.
