Falcons don’t fall far in CBS Sports’ latest NFL power rankings

The Atlanta Falcons fell short in their attempt to sweep the New Orleans Saints after suffering a three-point road loss in Week 10. It was a minor setback in an otherwise successful season and the team will try to get back on track this weekend when they take on the Denver Broncos.

Before losing to the Saints, the Falcons were knocking on the door of being a top-10 team, sitting at 11th in CBS Sports’ NFL power rankings. Now, they see themselves falling back two spots to 13th but still ahead of the next-best NFC South opponent.

That was a horrible loss on the road to the Saints. The good news for them is the Bucs lost behind them, but that wasn’t a good look in New Orleans. — Pete Prisco, CBS Sports

The loss was frustrating, especially for kicker Younghoe Koo, who left nine points on the field which could have potentially won the game. However, Koo doesn’t deserve all the blame as the offense struggled to keep drives going and the defense gave up too many big plays.

If the Falcons want to salvage their loss, a win over the 5-5 Broncos would do the trick. Denver is coming off a game it probably should have won against the Chiefs if not for a blocked field goal as time expired.

The Falcons have gone 0-1 against the AFC West thus far, losing by five points to the Chiefs in Week 3. Sunday’s game in Denver is crucial for both teams. The Broncos are 2.5-point favorites entering Week 11.
