The Atlanta Falcons completed their fifth interview for their head coach vacancy on Sunday night, holding a virtual meeting with Baltimore Ravens assistant head coach/defensive line coach Anthony Weaver.
A former second-round pick by the Ravens in 2002, Weaver started 98 games over seven NFL seasons before returning to the league as an assistant defensive line coach for the New York Jets in 2012. Weaver spent two years as the defensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns and then held the same role for Houston Texans from 2013-2019.
In 2020, he served as defensive coordinator for the Texans before moving on to the Ravens as DL coach from 2021-2023. Baltimore promoted Weaver to assistant head coach in 2022.
Atlanta has gone through five interviews thus far — Brian Callahan, Steve Wilks, Ejiro Evero, and Mike Macdonald — and the team has at least five more coming.
Plus, there’s growing speculation that the Falcons are interested in Bill Belichick, who was allegedly spotted on team owner Arthur Blank’s yacht over the weekend.
Bill Belichick was allegedly spotted boarding Falcons owner Arthur Blank's DreAMBoat on Sunday amid rumor of Atlanta's interest in hiring Belichick for its head coaching role, per this tweet.
