Morris has served the last three seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams after stepping in as the Falcons interim head coach in 2020.
The 47-year-old was one of the more experienced candidates available. Morris was the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for three years (2009-2011), producing one 10-6 season in 2010. He served six years on the Falcons coaching staff (2015-2020) and stepped in as the interim head coach after the team fired Dan Quinn in 2020.
Morris also has experience coaching on both sides of the ball and is familiar with the structure under team owner Arthur Blank and CEO Rich McKay.
