NEW DELHI: Opener Fakhar Zaman smashed a dazzling unbeaten ton while skipper Babar Azam also scored a crucial half-century as Pakistan pulled off a dramatic 21-run victory (DLS) over New Zealand in the rain-hit Match 35 in Bengaluru to keep their semis hopes alive at the World Cup on Saturday.
After New Zealand had piled up a mammoth 401-6 riding on Rachin Ravindra (108) ton and a power-packed 95-run knock from a returning skipper Kane Williamson, Pakistan were 160 for one in the 21st over when rain brought a stoppage at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Set a revised target of 342 off 41 overs, Zaman had moved to 126 and Azam was on 66 with their team on 200 for one in the 26th over when the rain returned, this time bringing the game to an end.
