The singer indicated that the marriage served as a coping mechanism during a period of deep emotional distress, which she characterized as the most difficult years of her life.
Britney said that her wedding happened during one of the “hardest years” of her life, per TMZ. She was reportedly not allowed to talk to her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, whom she had with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. She mentioned that even though she and Sam got married, it felt more like a pretend distraction to help her cope with everything going on, saying, “It’s weird me and Sam were married but it almost felt like a fake distraction to help me deal with it.”
