A well-known family run pizzeria in Co Tyrone has picked up a top gong at the Irish Takeaway Awards after more than three decades of serving the people of Cookstown.
Fairhill Pizzeria in the town, run by Brenda and Barry Tally, scooped the Highly Commended Pizza of the Year at the awards in Athlone on Monday night.
The pizzeria was one of the first of its kind to open in Co Tyrone 32 years ago, and has remained as a family-run establishment ever since.
Brenda told MyTyrone it is the staff and customers who have made Fairhill Pizzeria a success for more than three decades.
“We were one of the first pizzerias in Tyrone. Over the past 32 years we have built a brilliant relationship with our customers,” Brenda said.
“A lot of those have been with us from we opened and we are now serving their children and grandchildren.
“We are very grateful to all our customers, we wouldn't be where we are today without them.
“We are very fortunate to have a fantastic team and they adopted to the change during the pandemic and nothing was too much trouble.
“We appreciate all the hard work they have put into the business and how passionate they are about it.”
Brenda added herself and Barry attended the awards ceremony and were ‘blown away’ when their name was announced.
They plan to take the whole team to the upcoming NI Takeaway Awards.
She said: “We were just absolutely blown away whenever we got the Highly Commended award.
“It’s great recognition for us and the staff and what we have done over the years, it’s great to feel appreciated for putting out good quality food.
“It was a great night altogether, we had a fantastic time.
“It’s for everybody that has been involved in Fairhill Pizzeria over the years, and we were just so delighted to get that recognition.”
