A bout of brighter weather recently has well and truly kicked off the spring season in Lanarkshire.
And now with the clocks turned forward an hour, longer days and (slightly) warmer climates are upon us, leaving plenty of room for fun activities in our local towns.
Easter is only round the corner...and locals are promised an egg-celent time in Hamilton town centre with a host of events in the coming weeks to mark the season.
The success of last year's holiday markets, run by the town's Business Improvement District (BID) group, has left lots of encouragement for bigger and better things to come in 2022.
For the first time ever, Hamilton will host Easter Gala market days which will run for two consecutive weekends - Saturday, April 9 and Saturday, April 16.
They will take place on Quarry Street in the town centre.
It sees the return of the hugely popular market stalls, run by local businesses and a number of takeaways and restaurants in the area.
The Easter markets will see over 30 vendors turn out in the town centre from 10am on both April 9 and 16.
The events will be very much aimed at children this time with lots of outdoor play activities being run.
A special Easter egg trail is expected to take place with 10 local businesses taking part as young ones hunt for eggs around the town centre. More details will be released on Hamilton BID's social media pages nearer the time.
There will also be a number of fairground rides around the streets for the youngsters to enjoy.
Also running activities on the days are local artists who will be putting on lots of arts and crafts workshops and stalls for kids to get involved in.
And like previous BID events, it will be jam-packed of live performers and entertainment. That will see the return of Samba Ya Bamba, An Abba Dream, as well as drag queen Garry King who presented the Christmas lights switch-on in December.
Entertaining the crowds will also be a Scottish ceilidh dance group and a silent disco for all to join in.
Face painters, magicians, balloon modellers and so much more will all be part of the fun.
Malcolm Thomas-Harley, Hamilton BID manager told Lanarkshire Live: "It will be very kids focused so lots to do during the Easter break free of charge.
"There's lots of community involvement, and there'll be something for everybody. The feel will be very relaxed and engaging for everybody to get involved, and hopefully shop in the local shops too.
"It's the first time there's been a big fun day like this at Easter time in the town centre. So hopefully it brings a new environment and new life into Hamilton this time, and hopefully the weather's kind for it too!"
Hamilton BID last month told of the upcoming Easter events where Malcolm announced: "Looking ahead to Easter I am delighted to announce that we are organising a brand-new Easter Gala market days on April 9 and 16 on Quarry Street.
"The street will be filled with activities for the kids, an Easter trail, story telling and activity area as well as lots of local performers, music and market stalls.
"Look out for all the details on our social media and remember to Shop, Eat, Play and Stay Local!"
The market events run from 10am to 4pm with live entertainment starting from 11.30am on April 9 and 16.
