‘Failure to provide support’: US to withdraw 5,000 troops from Germany amid widening Iran war rift

The United States will withdraw around 5,000 troops from Germany, the Pentagon announced on Friday, in a move that shows the growing tensions between Donald Trump and European allies over the Iran conflict.

The drawdown follows a sharp exchange between Trump and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who earlier criticised the handling of negotiations with Iran, saying Tehran was humiliating the United States.
