Facebook users left red faced after glitch reveals who they've been snooping on

Facebook users have been left mortified after a bug revealed who they've been stalking online.

The glitch resulted in a friend request sent after a profile is viewed on Facebook. Many users were left worried that their snooping has been exposed to exes, co-workers, old friends, and strangers.

Thankfully, Facebook owner, Meta, immediately pushed out an update to fix the bug, the Mirror UK reports. One Facebook user named Katy said: "Worst time to stalk an ex from YEARS ago when you're drunk and he pops into your head randomly."

Another person added: "Spent most of today cringing myself inside out after being caught by the Facebook friend request bug (it sends friend requests to any profile you click on)." Some embarrassed users even threatened to deactivate their Facebook accounts.

A notice from Facebook said users could track the friend requests that were sent out by the glitch by checking out the activity log. It added that Facebook has cancelled any requests that were sent because of the bug.

The bug has also revealed how unpopular some people are with users jokingly complaining they haven't received any friend requests. "Facebook glitch just showing me how unpopular I am," said jacintaandcarty on TikTok. Others responded by saying, "No one stalking me either."

If you're still worried you've been affected by the technical defect, head to facebook.com/friends.

From here, click 'Friend Requests' in the left-hand tab followed by 'View send requests' to review the pending requests.
