Facebook has responded after thousands of users reported being flooded with unusual celebrity spam posts.
The social media platform has now fixed an issue with the platform which saw users' feeds flooded with unrelated messages and posts. On Wednesday morning, Facebook users around the world began reporting what some deemed "spam" messages appearing on their feeds, often posts from random users being directed at celebrities or famous accounts on the platform.
In many cases, the issue had caused users' feeds to be swamped with the posts, which were appearing above updates from friends and connections on the platform. Online outage tracker Down Detector reported complaints from all over the globe, with the majority of reports marking issues with both the Facebook News Feed and the app.

According to Down Detector's stats, issues began here in the UK at around 7am. At the height of the problem at around 8am on Wednesday morning, Downdetector.co.uk, which tracks the service status of websites, received more than 2,500 reports from Facebook users, with some describing it as a "weird issue".
Reports on Twitter were sharing that Facebook users are all experiencing the same issue: homepages are not showing posts from friends and pages that users follow and instead are seeing random posts on celebrity pages.
Tamlyn said: "Major glitch on @facebook as people can now write on celeb/business pages? My news feed is FILLED with people sending spam to these pages. Annoying I will not lie. #facebook #spamcomments".
Vishnu said: "Some major glitch on Facebook! My feed is filled with random people commenting on celeb pages!" Meanwhile, another user said: "If you are following Jack Black or any other celeb on Facebook, you'll notice how people are spamming their pages because of a glitch letting every other followers see the post on their wall. It's annoying and unfunny, tbh."
In response, the social media giant confirmed the problem has now been resolved and said a "configuration change" had been the root of the issue. A spokesman for parent company Meta told PA news agency: "Earlier today, a configuration change caused some people to have trouble with their Facebook feed.
"We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologise for any inconvenience."
