Frankie Hough, 38, and her two young children, Tommy, nine and Rocky, two, were travelling along the motorway on Saturday afternoon when they were involved in the crash with a BMW. Frankie's nephew Tobias, four, was also a passenger.
Frankie, Tommy, Rocky and Tobias, from Oldham, were rushed to hospital via air ambulance, but Frankie, who was pregnant, has since died.
At this yesterday's hearing, prosecutor Robin Lynch confirmed: "The driver is now deceased. There were three young children in the vehicle, two of those young children are in an induced coma."
No pleas were entered at this stage. The case was adjourned for a preliminary hearing to be heard at Minshull Street Crown Court on June 19. Mr Iqbal, of Hope Street, was remanded into custody until the next hearing.
