Fabinho's wife announces birth of baby boy after Liverpool midfielder misses Leicester win

Fabinho and his wife, Rebeca Tavares, welcomed their baby boy into the world earlier today, as confirmed by the new mother's Instagram.

The Brazilian missed Liverpool's 2-1 win against Leicester City on Friday night, with the club citing 'personal reasons' - expected to be the imminent birth of the couple's first child. Harvey Elliott was the one change at Anfield as two Wout Faes own-goals gifted the Reds a fourth straight Premier League win.

And on Saturday morning (December 31), his wife Rebeca posted an Instagram story confirming the birth of their baby boy, Israel Tavares.

Alongside the newborn's name and date of birth, she posted a passage from the Bible: "For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord; I sing for joy at what your hands have done."

Fabinho will likely have a couple of days with his first child, but could be back available for Liverpool's trip to Brentford on Monday. The 29-year-old's absence on Friday evening was decided at the last minute, with Jurgen Klopp dropping Jordan Henderson into a deeper role and adding Elliott into midfield alongside Thiago Alcantara.

Speaking after the game about the late change, Klopp said: " We had one session before the game when games come like this and that’s the one session we had yesterday, this morning we did set-pieces, got the news then sent him home."
