Fabian Delph offers Manchester United verdict after Everton defeat

Everton midfielder Fabian Delph provided his verdict on Manchester United after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to his side on Saturday afternoon.

United started brightly in the opening 25 minutes against Everton minutes, with Marcus Rashford denied twice by Jordan Pickford. However, Anthony Gordon scored just moments later to give the Toffees the lead.

Ralf Rangnick's men then struggled to create enough chances in the final third, allowing Everton to hold on for a vital victory as they battle to avoid the drop. And after match, former Leeds and Man City star Delph gave his assessment of United's current plight.

"They’re a top team," he began. "They’ve got some top players up the front end of the pitch. We did really well to keep a clean sheet."

When asked about Everton's current predicament Delph added: "It’s obviously a tough situation for everyone around the city, but we’re a city who sticks together. The fans I speak to are very optimistic.

"You heard the fans today – they were like a 12th man. They’re that little bit of adrenaline we need to keep on going.

"As I said before, we had plenty of games like this with big performances but we haven’t followed it up. It’s about winning and becoming a winning machine."
