FA Cup draw LIVE: Man City, Chelsea and Southampton find out semi-final fate after Leeds pip West Ham in thriller

Southampton’s reward for knocking Arsenal out of the FA Cup is a semi-final date with Manchester City, with Chelsea and Leeds United set to contest the other place in the final.

Saints stunned the Premier League leaders with a deserved win at St Mary’s on Saturday night and now face the other title-chasing side after Manchester City thrashed Liverpool to continue their chase for a domestic treble. Chelsea, meanwhile, had no trouble putting away Port Vale in a one-sided quarter-final – though the same could not be said of their last-four opponents with Leeds pipping West Ham on penalties in a cup classic.

A meeting of the two sides at Wembley will bring back memories of the 1970 FA Cup final, when Chelsea overcame Leeds in extra-time in a replay in one of English football’s most famous and physical encounters. The ties will be played on the weekend of 25 April.

“We needed to be prepared for everything. I was able to keep my head in place and keep focused on the game, and I’m so happy we won the match.”

Heartbreak for West Ham – they are out of the FA Cup after finally falling short in a shootout. What a game, though, and what drama. Full credit to Fin Herrick for stepping in and making a save under those circumstances, but it was not to be.

Chelsea swat Port Vale aside as Liam Rosenior provides Enzo Fernandez update

18:05 , Harry Latham-Coyle

Liam Rosenior said things are “not what people think” between him and Enzo Fernandez after the midfielder watched from the stands as Chelsea beat Port Vale 7-0 to reach the FA Cup semi-finals.

The agent of the World Cup winner, Javier Pastore, on Friday described as “completely unfair” Rosenior’s decision to remove Fernandez from the team for two matches following comments made during the international break in which he appeared to court Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old will also miss next Sunday’s Premier League game against Manchester City, which could prove to be a warm-up for a cup meeting between the teams at Wembley later in April.

Christian Norgaard says Arsenal cannot afford to overthink their shock FA Cup exit at Southampton as the Premier League leaders look to bounce back in the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta’s men suffered an almighty shock at St Mary’s on Saturday evening as the Championship play-off hopefuls’ intensity and courage paid dividends in a famous 2-1 quarter-final triumph.

Substitute Shea Charles’ late strike sent Southampton to the semi-finals and left Arsenal with some soul searching as the shock defeat compounded their Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City a fortnight ago.
