F1 TV shifts gears: FanCode takes the wheel as India’s Formula 1 fan base races ahead

FanCode will become the sole platform through which Indian fans can buy and manage F1 TV Pro and F1 TV Premium subscriptions, expanding its role as a destination for Formula 1 in the country.

FanCode will handle subscription sales and management for both F1 TV tiers, while subscribers will receive the F1 TV viewing experience. Fans can retain the full Formula 1 feed, including live races with camera streams, unedited team radio, data and telemetry. The service also carries Formula 1 documentaries, archive races, interviews and original shows on demand.

Formula 1 targets India's growing fan base

The move comes as Formula 1's audience in India is expanding. Formula 1 now has more than nine crore fans in the country, making India one of its fastest-growing markets globally.

With its Formula 1 rights and sports audience, FanCode is seeking to turn growing interest in the sport into a bigger subscriber base. The company has been broadcasting Formula 1 in India since 2024, and its current agreement runs through 2028.

FanCode expands motorsports portfolio

The Formula 1 agreement also covers Formula 2, Formula 3, F1 Academy and Porsche Super Cup. FanCode's wider motorsports portfolio includes Moto GP and DTM.

"Formula 1 has seen a year-on-year growth ever since our broadcast partnership and today has over 90 million fans across the country. Our job is to meet every one of them where they are: be it the curious fan just getting into the sport or the core fan who wants to follow the sport using multiple camera angles. Becoming the ultimate destination for F1 in India means we get to do what we do best and help fans showcase their fandom," FanCode co-founder Yannick Colaco said.

Formula 1’s Chief Media Rights and Broadcasting Officer Ian Holmes said the expanded partnership with FanCode would support the sport’s growing presence in India and give fans a more seamless way to access its coverage and content. He said Formula 1 would continue working with FanCode as interest in the sport grows across the country.

The subscription expansion also comes alongside a government effort to examine the future of Formula One and motorsports in India. The government has constituted a task force under NITI Aayog to examine the revival and development of Formula One and the broader motorsports ecosystem.

The task force will focus on identifying challenges and formulating a coordinated roadmap for the sector.
