Researchers have called upon Formula 1 teams to do more to be transparent and improve their governance in order to help make the future of the sport more sustainable.
The Standard Ethics group has analysed all 10 teams currently operating in the sport to determine how they perform in three ways. Their environmental and social strategies are examined, along with their governance – ESG is the initialism covering all three.
Specifically, researchers looked at whether each team had a publicly-available code of ethics, their coverage of human rights issues, how their environmental targets are disclosed and the overall quality of their ESG reporting.
