Formula One team Williams have signed Alex Albon up to a new multi-year contract.
The 26-year-old driver, who was born in London and raises under the flag of Thailand, has so far secured the team’s only points in the 2022 season.
On Wednesday, Williams announced the deal to complete the first part of their driver line-up for 2023.
Albon tweeted his joy at the extension with a cheeky dig aimed at the saga unfolding between Oscar Piastri and Alpine, after their announcement that the Australian was racing for them was followed by his dramatic denial.
He wrote: “I understand that, with my agreement, Williams Racing have put out a press release this afternoon that I am driving for them next year.
“This is right and I have signed a contract with Williams for 2023. I will be driving for Williams next year. Let’s go!”
Albon previously raced for Red Bull and the F1 team was said to have a recall option for next year, with this move likely ending their association with the driver.
