World champion Max Verstappen has set a new record for most wins in an F1 season, taking his 14th victory of the year in Mexico.
Starting in pole, the Dutchman was exceptional in the hot conditions, beating Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton who drove well for second position, while Mexican star Sergio Perez finished third in front of his adoring fans.
Verstappen also broke Lewis Hamilton's record for the most points scored in an F1 season, which was set in 2019.
He sits on 416 championship points with two races remaining.
"Amazing guys, what a fantastic race again," Verstappen said over his radio.
"Fourteen wins, unbelievable, what a season."
Meanwhile, Daniel Ricciardo produced one of the best drives of the season, overcoming a 10-second penalty to finish seventh.
The Australian came alive at the end of the race, overtaking cars for fun as he made his way up the grid.
His hopes of scoring points looked dashed in the later stages of the race when he tried to pass the AlphaTauri of Yuki Tsunoda but clipped the Japanese driver's rear-right end.
Tsunoda's car rode over one of Ricciardo's wheels before then going off track, ultimately retiring due to damage when it got back to the pits.
The Australian was handed a 10-second penalty from the race stewards, which was added to his time at the end of the race.
But Ricciardo shrugged it off to climb to seventh, more than 10 seconds ahead of eighth-placed Esteban Ocon.
The performance helped McLaren again tighten the gap with rivals Alpine in the battle for fourth in the constructors' championship to seven points.
Fans voted Ricciardo the driver of the day for his performance.
