Formula 1 fans have shared their excitement after Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo reunited in a recent video shared by Red Bull.
As the four-time champion took on challenges against Racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad in various Ford machines from the past 100 years, the two drivers were greeted by Ricciardo's famous smile ahead of the final challenge.
"I gasped when Daniel just showed up out of nowhere. I hope they filmed some more content with the three of them. It'd be a shame to waste Maxiel, they have wonderful chemistry," one fan commented on Reddit, while another added: "Very fun! I love the little wave/thumbs up between Max and Daniel, I didn’t expect we’d ever see Maxiel in a PR video again. Also love that Max predicted the final gap between times perfectly lol. Arvid did great, and fun to see some very different cars."
Another fan simply commented, "MAXIELLL," while another wrote on X: "NOW THIS IS WHAT WE WAAAAANT." Someone else commented: "Friendship ended with Honda. Now Ford is my best friend."

Other comments included: "I like to think that this way, a part of Daniel will always be on the track. I mean, I miss him a lot", "AAAAAAAAAA this has made my entire week," and "Wdym we got Maxiel in 2026????? Am I dreaming????"
Since leaving F1 following the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, Ricciardo signed on as a Ford Racing ambassador in September 2025. Ford is also partnering with Red Bull Powertrains from 2026 onwards, suggesting these collaborations may become more common. We have already seen Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson take on rally challenges, Ricciardo drive on a Ford Raptor Rally and now Verstappen and Lindblad take on their own challenge.
Red Bull and Racing Bulls will unveil their 2026 F1 liveries during an event in Detroit on 15 January.
