F1 bosses have confirmed there will be no replacement for the Chinese Grand Prix, with the 2023 season having 23 races.
The race in Shanghai has not gone ahead for the last three years and was cancelled last month due to the continued coronavirus restrictions in China. There had been suggestions a replacement would be confirmed for the race that had been scheduled for April 16, with Portimao emerging as a potential alternative.
A number of schedule rearrangements were also considered by F1 chiefs, including moving the Azerbaijan Grand Prix forward by a week.
But it has now been confirmed that there will be a four-week gap in the season between the Australian Grand Prix on April 2, and the race in Baku on April 30.
The 2023 season will welcome the Las Vegas Grand Prix for the first time for the penultimate race of the season. The calendar will once again begin in Bahrain in March and conclude in Abu Dhabi in November.
Max Verstappen will be eyeing his third successive world title this year after romping to victory for Red Bull last year.
The Dutchman does expect a closer title fight this time around though, insisting: "People are understanding the cars a lot more, and over time, all the teams will just edge closer."
There have been a number of driver switches ahead of the new season, with Sebastian Vettel announcing his retirement at the end of the 2022 campaign.
Daniel Ricciardo has been replaced by countryman Oscar Piastri at McLaren while Nico Hulkenberg will return to the grid with Haas in place of Mick Schumacher.
Elsewhere, Logan Sargeant has secured his seat at Williams and Alpine confirmed the arrival of Pierre Gasly.
