Christian Horner explained how Fernando Alonso "missed the opportunity" to drive for Red Bull earlier in his career.
The team's entry into Formula 1 coincided with the finest period of the Spaniard's career. He won the 2005 and 2006 title with Renault and looked poised to add many more over the following years.
But Alonso is still waiting to add to his collection of silverware. Despite spells with McLaren – twice – and Ferrari, further championship glory has eluded him.
