Cothran and his friend were at a nightclub when they noticed unusual activity on Bourbon Street around 3 a.m. A group of women rushed into the club, seeking refuge under tables after bypassing security guards. Sensing danger, Cothran and his friend quickly made their way to the club's balcony.
From the balcony, Cothran was met with a devastating scene. He described the sight as unimaginable, with bodies scattered and disfigured. The impact of what he saw was something he believed he would never forget.
According to Cothran, they counted eight bodies, each presenting a gruesome image. Among the deceased were a woman who appeared twisted, a man with visible tire tracks on his back, and a young girl who had been dancing in the street earlier, now lying lifeless.
Cothran expressed the profound shock of witnessing such carnage, likening the experience to scenes only found in movie scripts.
