EY in bumper student hire for Birmingham office

Financial services firm EY has recruited 74 students to its Birmingham office as part of investment in the next generation of employees.

It has hired a mix of graduates and apprentices in the city through its student programmes as part of a larger national investment in young talent, comprising more than 1,400 students recruited this year.

West Midlands managing partner Simon O'Neill said: "As one of EY's largest regional offices, our commitment to recruiting new talent demonstrates the strength of our business and the opportunities available here in the Midlands.

"I'm pleased to welcome this new cohort of students who will be working across all areas of our business and look forward to seeing where their careers lead them at EY."

UK chairman Hywel Ball added: "These are record numbers for EY as we continue to invest in young talent to support our growth across the UK.

"We're continuing to see strong levels of client demand and continued investment across the firm which is why we've increased our student intake year on year over the last three years and hired more than 3,600 students.

"This is an important talent pool for EY that we want to nurture and support as they begin their careers. Over the coming months, our new students will spend time getting to know their colleagues across EY, begin their training and start working with clients."
