Extensive harbour development plans still on course, councillor confirms

The Harbourside area will see a regeneration

EXTENSIVE plans to fully redevelop Irvine Harbourside are continuing with further announcements on the project expected later this year.

That was the message from North Ayrshire Council Cabinet Member for Place Scott Davidson on an area which is currently seeing ongoing house building.

The Harbourside is becoming a much sought-after area and last month hosted the Making Waves Festival and a successful open weekend at the Scottish Maritime Museum.

Councillor Davidson said: “The Outline Business Case for the Great Harbour project has been approved in June 2021 with a £14M allocation towards the investment focusing on three hubs of development identified by the concept masterplan, Coastal, Central and Maritime Heritage.

“The draw down and expenditure of funding from the Scottish Government is subject to a Full Business Case (FBC) which requires further development works and the masterplan is currently being developed in detail.

“The public consultation took place in February and March 2022 focusing on the Coastal Hub and the proposed play facility and the report will be published in due course.

“The complete masterplan will be subject to further public consultation later this year and project development work across all Ayrshire Growth Deal components is ongoing.”
