Extend September deadline to shift to clean fuels, industries tell Haryana govt

GURUGRAM: A delegation of industry representatives on Tuesday appealed to the state government to extend the deadline for switching from diesel generators to PNG-based or retrofitted generators, highlighting practical challenges such as procurement of alternatives and a patchy supply via gas pipelines.

The Gurugram Industrial Association (GIA), in a letter submitted to deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala, said that companies will find it difficult to get greener alternatives to ensure they have power backup by September 30 – the deadline set by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to make the shift.
