Export boost for Wrexham manufacturer following Airbus deal

A North Wales firm, which specialises in the design of bespoke protective covers for the aerospace sector, has landed a deal to become an exclusive supplier for Airbus. Air Covers, headquartered in Wrexham, has been selected as the custom protection cover supplier for Airbus’ newly launched H145D3 helicopter.

The deal means the company is on track to reach it goal of increasing its exports by a quarter by the end of 2022, compared to last year. Exports currently account for 65% of its trade but the company aims to reach 75% by 2024 by growing its international portfolio and expanding in key growth markets like North America and Australia.

Air Covers has just completed an initial order for Airbus, supplying fourteen aircraft, manufactured in Donauwörth, Germany, with its protective covers. The company expects to deliver 30 sets per annum from 2023.
