Fernhill Park and Gardens - Dublin's newest pubic park - is an important component of the historic landscape on the fringe of Dublin city.
The small estate dates back to around 1823, and the estate was passed onto the Walker family who continued to develop the garden plan.
The matriarch, Sally Walker, lived there until she was well in her 90s.

The paths in the rural paradise were deliberately wide to accommodate three ladies walking side-by-side without crushing their hooped skirts.
Small flights of steps and hidden nooks in the park create a sense of a hidden garden and the stream adds to the charm with a bridge, pools, waterfalls and ferns lining the banks.
Fernhill is also home to a unique plant collection, made up of acid-loving plants such as Rhododendrons, Camellias and Magnolias.
It's upon 34 hectares of land in Stepaside, a stone’s throw from the Dublin-Wicklow Mountains and a short journey from Sandyford.
Hayley Syms at The Lady Travel posted a TikTok of the area that has a unique collection of heritage buildings, gardens, parkland, woodland and agricultural land.
She said: “Have you heard of Dublin’s newest park? Dating back to the nineteenth century Fernhill House was once a family residence.
“It’s now a beautiful public park overlooking Dublin Bay.
“This former estate has beautiful gardens, woodland and a unique collection of plants, making this park a perfect choice for a short and easy walk in Dublin.”
