Experts grade Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ Week 16 performance vs. Texans

The Kansas City Chiefs are 14-1 after defeating the Houston Texans in Week 16 on Saturday, December 21.

While the defending Super Bowl champions have been among the NFL’s most consistent teams this season, Kansas City’s offense was expected to take a step back against Houston after star quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered an ankle injury in Week 15.

In the Chiefs’ win over the Texans, Mahomes completed 28 of his 41 passes for 260 yards and one touchdown. He was not intercepted in the game and also managed to rush for 33 yards and a touchdown on five attempts.

On paper, Mahomes seemed to have put together a stellar performance, but the experts at Pro Football Network weren’t so enthusiastic about his outing in Week 16.

According to PFN, Mahomes earned an 80.1 QB+ score in the game, which translated to a B- grade by their metrics.

According to PFN, the QB+ metric “grades how a QB performed, but every game comes with a different matchup. Here is how tonight’s QBs produced relative to the average QB+ grade allowed by their opponent this season.”
