A deals expert has revealed how to save £62 on your next supermarket shop by using a voucher 'trick' for every major UK store.
Tom Church of LatestDeals has revealed hidden voucher codes for Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Iceland and Ocado in a bid to help shoppers save money on the rising cost of their supermarket shop.
The deals expert has revealed how rotating your supermarket shop and signing up using other people in your household means you can get money off when ordering a shop online in some of the UK's best-known supermarkets.
He says: "You can save £62 by rotating supermarkets and shopping online. The trick works by using new customer discount codes. These can give you up to 30% off on your weekly shop by ordering online for the first time with different retailers.
“You can often get discount codes for future shops as well. I’ve had codes for £20 off a £40 spend at Ocado, £15 off a £60 spend at Morrisons, and £10 off a £60 spend at Sainsbury’s. Sainsbury’s often gives bonus Nectar points too if you come back.
“If you’re not a new customer, ask your partner or flatmate to open a new account. There’s nothing wrong with this.
“Combine these codes with other offers, for example the Aldi price match at Sainsbury’s, or multibuy offers at Morrisons, you can end up cutting the cost of your weekly shop by a massive amount. It’s worth doing”.
“Here is a list of supermarket voucher codes working this week:"
Sainsbury’s £12 off £60 (First Shop Only - Use Code: SCSEO23JU12
Amazon Prime Members Get £10 Off £60 Morrisons Order - Use Code 10NEXTMOR
Morrisons £15 off £70 (First Shop Only) - Register To Get Code
Ocado Save 25% Off £60 (First Shop Only) - Use Code: VOU7679437
Iceland Save £5 off £45 (First Shop Only) - Use Code ICEFIVEOFF
The deal expert has also revealed the best times to shop in store to make the most of yellow sticker items after saving £3,400 in a year by using the reduced items in place of his normal shop.
“I spent a year living on yellow sticker items only," he says: "and I saved around £3,400 on my food bills. I found that talking to staff in your local supermarket is the best way to find out when they make their discounts. As long as you’re polite and don’t put them under pressure, I’ve found they’re happy to give advice if they can."
The full times for supermarket discounts are:
Aldi: Seek out morning discounts from 8AM featuring red clearance stickers, offering half-price deals. As food nears its expiration date, the discount might rise to 75%.
ASDA: Look for price cuts starting in the morning with potential for additional markdowns starting at 7PM.
Co-Op: Keep an eye out for yellow stickers at varying times throughout the day, differing by location. The ultimate markdowns can give up to 75% off.
Iceland: Fresh foods have yellow stickers with discounts in the morning, the extent of which fluctuates.
Lidl: In the morning, look for orange clearance stickers providing a 30% discount. Occasionally, you'll also find green "waste not!" stickers priced at 20p or 70p.
Marks & Spencer: Expect yellow sticker discounts in the morning. Considering M&S's higher price range, your overall savings can be quite significant compared to other stores.
Morrisons: The most substantial markdowns tend to be in the evening. However, you might find better value in their £3.49 Magic Box from Too Good To Go, filled with approximately £10 worth of food.
Sainsbury's: Starting at 1PM, discounts begin at 25%, increase to 50% at 5PM, and finally escalate to 75% at 8PM.
Tesco: Yellow stickers often appear in the afternoon, especially on fresh meat, fish, produce, and bakery items.
Waitrose: Discount times vary by location, but typically occur in the afternoon, with price reductions growing as the store nears closing time.
