Expert's advice as Don’t Pay UK site booms in wake of mini budget

Prime Minister Liz Truss has begun to unveil her plans for the budget and how the government will tackle the rising cost of living. However many people are angry about the price of energy and bills and say they haven't got the money to pay for it.

A major protest called Don’t Pay UK has been launched, encouraging people to not pay their bills on October 1. This is the date which the new energy price cap will come into effect and skyrocket the price of bills.

More than 180k people have pledged to stop paying bills in October with searches increasing by 49% in the last month in areas like East Yorkshire and Merseyside. Other key areas for the campaign are London, Birmingham, Norfolk and Exeter.
