As New Year arrives an expert has shared their top tips for helping to prevent blisters from your heels.
Many will be preparing to dance the night away as 2023 is welcomed. But new shoes for the New Year can lead to painful blisters and sores as you enjoy your night.
Thankfully you don't have to suffer in silence this New Year, as foot care expert Lisa Kay has shared her top tips for preparing your feet and your heels ahead of a night of dancing - including the £1 product we all have at home that could stop your shoes from chafing.

Lisa, Founder & CEO at bunion and wide fit footwear specialists Sole Bliss, said one of the best things to do to stop your feet from hating you is to think carefully about the type of shoes you buy, reports The Mirror.
Lisa claims that rubbing deodorant on the sides of your feet can help to ease the threat of chafing and rubbing from your heels. Most of us will have deodorant at home already, but if you need to dash out and buy some before your party starts, you can pick up brands such as Dove and Sure from Tesco for as little as £1.
Speaking about the deodorant trick, the expert said: "A wonderful and very cost-effective heel hack to stop rubbing is by adding a roll-on deodorant to the sides of your feet which is a cheap £1 hack.
"This will create a barrier between your skin and the shoe that will help to prevent that horrible heel chafing. As you wear heels through the night, your feet can naturally get sweaty and the deodorant will help keep that moisture at bay where you can start to feel irritation and blistering."
Lisa also suggested tips such as picking the right shoes for your foot shape, avoiding overly high heels, and choosing a pair of leather shoes over fabric ones. She added: "Whether you have slim feet or wide feet, you must pick the right shoe shape for your foot. If you have wide feet, square toes and rounded toes are often more suitable than pointed-toe shoes.
"Picking shoes with a little platform to your shoes can be very helpful. Having an inch or two in the front of the shoes will ease off some body weight pressure from the heel part and distribute it to the ball area so you have a more even footing and can enjoy a longer wear in the shoe."
Commenting further on leather shoes, she added: "Leather shoes naturally soften over time as the material relaxes, meaning that you can enjoy more comfortable heels over time as the material stretches to fit around your foot shape. Other synthetic materials can be quite rigid and hard on the side of the feet especially which can cause rubbing and blisters so it’s good to consider leather when you’re shopping around for shoes."
Lisa then recommended stretching your feet out and warming them up before putting your shoes on, as cold feet are more likely to cramp. She also said that even if you follow all the steps to prevent your feet from hurting while wearing heels, it's always a good idea to slip some plasters and blister sticks in your purse just in case.
The expert said: "It may be a given, but a fool-proof way to save your feet in case all else fails is to pack the plasters. Always carry a couple of different sizes with you for the different parts of your feet and you won't be sorry if you need them for your second wind on the dance floor."
