Expert reveals why fuel prices are dropping as we find the cheapest petrol and diesel in Dublin

Several Dublin filling stations are selling fuel today for under €2 a litre following the good news that oil costs are expected to drop in the coming weeks.

Fuel price website Pumps.ie says that the cheapest offers today lie in filling stations such as Campus on East Wall Road, which is selling petrol at €1.74 per litre and diesel at €1.79 per litre. Similar prices are available at Topaz on Usher’s Quay, which offers both petrol and diesel at €1.80 per litre.

Paul Dean, an energy researcher at UCC, spoke to RTÉ Radio 1 earlier about the expected drop in fuel costs. He explained that the drop in fuel prices stems from concerns regarding the global economy, added resources for crude oil and the potential availability of oil from Iran.
